Farming Through Adversity: The Resilience of Replanting and Supporting Local Agriculture
Last week, we had a freeze, dropping temperatures to 28°F. Despite careful preparation and the help of our grandchildren covering tender plants, some crops did not survive the cold. This setback reminded us that farming demands both careful planning and relentless persistence. This week, we replanted as the soil warmed again. The experience reinforced the reality that farming is a continuous cycle of challenges and recovery. At the same time, we are grateful for the support f

A Season of New Beginnings for Weise Farms
As we reflect on the journey of our Wagyu cattle, we are filled with gratitude for the blessings God has bestowed upon us. As you may recall, we sold our original Wagyu bull and bought a new one last year. Our latest calf born yesterday is one of the last ones born from our previous bull. Starting in April, all our new calves will be sired by our new bull, “Emperor,” marking a fresh chapter in our breeding program for increased marbling in our future beef offerings. In our

There is ALWAYS that one!!!
It was weaning day! We had plans to go to my Kindergarten teacher's birthday party that afternoon, so we started out early. So I would like to wish Mrs. Rials a very Happy Birthday and I'm so sorry we were unable to make it. Everything was going well. As each calf went through the chute, we were able to weigh them, deworm them, and protect them against blackleg, and place ear tags in their ears if needed. When we get near the end, we are always very tired and ready to be don

Tired and ReTired
As the days turned into hours counting down to Tim's retirement, farming life fought to take center stage over the excitement of retiring on Friday, January 9. Back in May and June of 2025, Tim and I were thrilled to buy a new bull named Emperor and a heifer named Tomiko, both boasting world-class genetics. We were surprised and excited to learn that Tomiko was bred before we acquired her, with the baby expected in January. An ultrasound confirmed it was a girl, due around Ja

Countdown to Retirement
Ten-Nine-Eight-Seven.... It's New Year's Eve and Tim is on the countdown to retirement. January 9 will be his last day. He started working at Kaemark in Giddings at the age of 14, hired by Gilbert Krause. His self-proclaimed title of Maintenance Engineer involved sweeping the floors and general cleanup. During the summer, age 15, he started cutting on the saws. Over the years Kaemark grew, and Tim became “the” wood cutter for the entire plant. At one time he kept over 100 wor

Mud, Sweat, and Cheers at The Pietsch Place
Our place in Warda, affectionately known as "The Pietsch Place," is where we take our Wagyu calves when we wean them off their mothers. Recently, we were thankful for some much-needed rain, but we noticed that the main tank was very low and had been taken over by American Lotus plants, leaving little water for the calves. Over time, the water in the tank becomes filled with mud and silt, and this particular tank is over 50 years old.

Dumped, Found, Loved on Weise Farms
How Pepper and Peaches found Weise Farms- an unexpected, unforgettable visit that reminded us how small moments of kindness can change lives. Dustin — our son-in-law, spotted two Australian Cattle Dogs on the side of the country road. One was a blue heeler and the other a red heeler. Somehow, they found their way to where he was working — about a mile away from where he first saw them. They were skin and bones, ribs showing. He fed them a whole bag of dog treats
