Weise Farms Wagyu - The Bull That Started It All

Every good story has a beginning, and ours has four legs and a pedigree.

Weise Farms first ever 100% Japanese Black Wagyu Bull

Meet KR Ito Tayasu E232 - The first 100% Japanese Black Wagyu Bull that came to live at Weise Farms.

When Tim and I decided to raise Wagyu beef, we didn't just want any bull. We wanted a 100% Wagyu bull that was pure, healthy, and the kind of beef that means something to the people who eat it. So we did our homework, and the trail led us to Bubba Kay, a respected name in the Wagyu industry.

That's where we found him. KR Ito Tayashu was a foundation Wagyu bull with the best genetics we could afford, and he became the heartbeat of Weise Farms for more than eight years.

He was more than a bull. Every calf born at Weise Farms during those years carried his genetics, and that meant every steak that made it to your table carried them too. That was always the point. Raise it right from the very beginning, and everything that follows is better for it. We never took that lightly.

But farming has seasons, and seasons change. When a call came from someone wanting to buy KR Ito Tayashu, we had a decision to make. He had served us well, the timing felt right, and we wanted to keep his heifers.

Building a Herd Worth Having for Weise Farms Wagyu

Keeping those heifers was just smart farming. Replacement heifers are expensive right now, and raising your own from a bull you trust makes all the sense in the world.

Ito Tayashu's daughters started at 50% Wagyu, and bred to the right bull, their calves would reach 75% Wagyu.

We had also invested in Wagyu cow/calf pairs over the years to push our herd even higher — all the way up to Pureblood. That's how you build a herd worth having and keep raising beef worth eating.

Finding the Right Bull to Carry the Legacy

So if we were going to sell him, we needed to find another bull worthy of taking his place. That search led us to Kenny at Landgraf Ranch.

Over the years we had bought some Wagyu cow/calf pairs from Kenny, and we trust him, so we called to see what he had in bulls.

That's where we found Emperor. Next time, you'll meet him - our dream bull — and we can't wait for his first calves to arrive.

Every steak, fajita, and package of ground beef from Weise Farms will carry that foundation — raised right, from birth to harvest.

Weise Farms Wagyu Beef Filet Mignon

OMG! That filet was amazing. Coarse salt and pepper crusted, wrapped in bacon, seared in a smoking hot cast iron skillet, flipped and  finished in a 500 degree oven. Killer!

We had a couple of friends over Saturday and I served them Weise Farms wagyu smoked beef ribs. They melted in your mouth!! The flavor was rich and creamy.
